I Believe:
In the verbal inspiration of the Bible, The only word of God.
In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary.
That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, yet we willfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. Because of this, sickness, death and judgment entered the world and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of sin.
That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Spirit.
Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.
In the baptism with the Holy Spirit following salvation at any period of time.
In the gifts of the Holy Spirit being present in the church today and that any of the gifts can be evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
That all gifts of the Spirit are obtainable to all believers who are baptized in the Holy Spirit. Ask and you shall receive. Jesus ministered in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and commands us to operate in the same manner and that we will do greater works.
That baptism of the Holy Spirit is not necessary for salvation but it is necessary for operating in the ministry of the Holy Spirit to non-believers and believers.
In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.
I believe in the second coming of Christ to either be before Tribulation or after. Call me a pan-tribulationist. As in, it’s all gonna pan out in the end.
In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
Distinctives:
- I go to a Holiness Pentecostal (Church of God) church but you’ll find that I reject certain practices such as publicly speaking in tongues without interpretation, tongues being the only real sign of baptism of the Holy Spirit, chaos, being “slain in the Spirit”, or multiple unweighed prophecies. I believe in the gifts most definitely but I believe in an order in which they are manifested. My main concern is the over emphasis on tongues. In a worship service, it is okay to worship freely but not disruptive to fellow worshipers. Speaking in tongues in a voice that is loudly heard is not being respectful to the manifestation or other people in the worship service. I do condone it to be used when praying in a group believers.
- I am trinitarian all the way. I have studied and studied and all scripture that I have found has backed up that belief. Ask if you want to know.
- I agree with two of the five points of the Calvinist/Reformed theology and those are Total Depravity and Unconditional Election.
- I maintain the belief that it is quite possible for someone to fall away. People have coined the phrase, “losing salvation” but that is not the case. God doesn’t take salvation from an individual. But an individual can walk away from that salvation. It happens in the Bible and it happens in my personal life.
- Christians cannot be demon possessed. Key word, “possessed” which means to have complete ownership of. The translation that we see in the Bible is incorrect. The correct term would be “to be demonized” or in other words, demonically oppressed. We are also body, soul, and spirit. Our spirit is taken up by the Holy Spirit so a demon entering that part of us is not gonna happen. Our soul is our mind, will, and emotions. Our bodies are subject to demonization through physical manifestations of ailment such as sleeplessness, nightmares, strong anxiety, self-mutilation, addictions, and physical illness.
- I am called to mission work abroad and domestic. I am called to a life of power. God has imparted a couple gifts on me that I truly love to embrace. These gifts that I have been called to use in ministry so far are prophecy, tongues, and healing. The Holy Spirit imparts His gifts as needed so I’m believing that when the gifts are necessary to minister that they will be imparted on me. Mind you, this is not just me. This is all believers who have been baptized in the Holy Spirit.
